My typical client is a brilliant leader, (that’s how I and others see them). They’re grafters. Responsibility-gap fillers. Sometimes pleasers. Good eggs. Talented. High achievers. Can-doers. They deserve their success.
The reason they don’t see how brilliant they are, is because they have Imposter Syndrome (IS) and it affects 70% of people. It causes them to feel like a fraud, that others mistakenly think we’re better than they are, that their success is down to luck, rather than being brilliant.
It can cause all the positive performance driving stuff above, but it also has a sinister side too. It creates something I call The IS Domino Effect, where one thing leads to another:
➡️ IS leads to proving they are enough.
➡️ Proving then leads to doing more.
➡️ Doing more leads to over-working. Over-working becomes the antidote to not feeling enough – we kid ourselves it’s a temporary solution and that we’ll get over the work hump very soon.
➡️ Over-working leads to stress, anxiety, slow deterioration of health and the joy of work-life being squashed. My clients start wondering, ‘What is life all about? I’m not enjoying the fruits of my labour’
How do I know all of this. I wore the massive T-shirt for ages. Burnt out. Then spent a couple of years recovering, as per the picture above. I was told I could spend a lifetime in bed or a wheelchair if I didn’t recover.
So, where does IS come from and how do we solve it…for good? I’m going to share all of this and much more in my free webinar which you can access here.
Wishing you all the very best.
